happy friday!

EEEP! Less than 24 hours Leslie and I will be running Grandma's Half Marathon. Although I've done a handful of these (I think this is #11 0r 12), I've never been this nervous. My back has been giving me problems all week so hopefully by 4 a.m. tomorrow it will be feeling better. Cross your fingers and wish us luck. I hope you have a great weekend!!

Back from a fun filled weekend, but I am unfortunately not feeling so well. I think I am coming down with the flu (hopefully not of the swine variety). The race went extremely well considering we drove through a mini blizzard to get there. I love running in cool weather so I was pretty happy with my race (I had a PR!). 11 of us enjoyed greasy food, drinks, and little hotel room contests like co-ed arm wrestling and saltine cracker eating. My stomach still hurts from laughing so much.

Since I will be laying low today I'm hoping to catch up on some shows and movies. I just read about this one over at the blog Oh Joy! and it looks so good. Every time I walk into an Anthropologie I wonder who, how, and where they find all that great stuff. What a dream job! This puts estate sales at a whole new level.

What you are you up to this fine weekend? A bunch of us are off to Ashland and Bayfield tomorrow for the Whistlestop half marathon. Its one of my favorite courses. Its on a beautiful trail where you are surrounded changing leaves and the weather is nice and cool. I didn't train all that much (again), but I think I'm a pro at winging things like this now. We're all staying in a historic hotel called Greunkes where JFK Jr. and other celebrities stayed. We have stayed here the last 3 years and I like assuming we're staying in the same room he did. It just makes the whole experience :)

cottage weekend

My weekend was a complete blast. We had so much fun we all decided to stay an extra night so I didn't get home till this afternoon! Here's a glimpse of our weekend: We stayed at a place called 'Devil Track' resort and rented this cottage (above).

I found this old wooden sign in the woods on my way to the lake. There were so many pretty wildflowers everywhere

Some friends of ours that ran the race stopped by for a visit.

We spent a lot of time laying on the dock (just as planned!).

The sun was shining the whole time we were there.

It was perfect. There was even a lemonade stand right across the road from us!

These cute sisters made some decent $$ from us :) The race was hard, hot, and muddy!

But so much fun.

Our legs and shoes were covered in thick mud.

I am realizing more and more how much I love trail races more than road races.
